Descripción

Octylamine is a chemical compound that is used as an extractant. It reacts with a number of substances, including hydrochloric acid, to form an octylamine-hydrochloric acid complex. This reaction can be carried out using a flow system. The reaction mechanism of octylamine is the same as other amines, where the hydroxyl group on the octylamine molecule reacts with the hydrogen atoms on HCl to form an octylamine-hydrochloride complex. Octylamine has been shown to be effective in extracting p-hydroxybenzoic acid and carboxylates from water samples.br>br>
Octylamine is also known for its ability to extract amines from organic compounds. This property makes it useful in synthesizing pharmaceuticals such as diazepam and nitroglycerin.br>br>
