Descripción

S-(+)-2-Octanol is an organic compound that is used in biochemical reactions as a substrate and has been shown to be a good substrate for dehydrogenases. It also binds well to the hydroxyl group of proteins, which are enzymes that catalyze biochemical reactions. S-(+)-2-Octanol is used as a reagent in the preparation of immobilized cell cultures and can be used in chromatographic methods. There are several isomers of S-(+)-2-Octanol, including (R)-octanol and (S)-octanol. The stereoselectivity of this compound means that it reacts with a specific enzyme only when the enzyme’s active site recognizes the same spatial orientation as the molecule.
