10,10'-Oxybisphenoxarsine is a cross-linking agent that is used as a biocide. It is also used as an analytical reagent for the determination of fatty acids and diamine tetraacetic acid. The method of preparation involves the reaction of dimethyl fumarate with ethylene diamine in the presence of silver ions and sodium carbonate. The product is purified by liquid chromatography. 10,10'-Oxybisphenoxarsine has been shown to inhibit the growth of staphylococcus aureus and other bacteria on agar plates.
