It also has been shown to inhibit the production of inflammatory cytokines and matrix metalloproteinases, which are enzymes that break down collagen in the joints. n-Octanamide has been shown to be an effective extractant for various chemical species, such as hydroxyl groups and cationic surfactants. It is used as a detergent composition in cleaning products, such as dishwashing liquids and laundry detergents.
