Orthosphenic acid is a natural triterpenoid that has been shown to have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anticancer properties. It inhibits the growth of cancer cells in vitro and can be used to treat inflammatory diseases. Orthosphenic acid also synergizes with wilforlide, an anticancer drug, and may have a synergistic effect on other anticancer drugs. This compound is found in plants such as Maytenus sp., maytenus erythroxylon, and candida glabrata. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of cervical cancer cells in vitro.
