Descripción

Trans-3-octenoic acid is a conjugate of estradiol and caproic acid. It can be prepared by reacting estradiol with sodium octanoate in the presence of chlorine. Trans-3-octenoic acid has been shown to have anticancer activity when administered to rats. Trans-3-octenoic acid also has behavioral responses that are pheromonal in nature, leading to an increase in human urine production when it is present. The oxidation products of trans-3-octenoic acid are detected by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).
