Descripción:n-Octyl 4-hydroxybenzoate is a preservative that has been used in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. It is a chemical with a high chemical stability and excellent inhibition properties. n-Octyl 4-hydroxybenzoate has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria, including the genus Bacillus, but not Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Inhibition studies have been performed on samples from wastewater treatment plants and cell culture experiments. The effect of n-octyl 4-hydroxybenzoate on rat liver microsomes has also been studied, as well as its effects on human liver cells in culture.
