Onjisaponin D is a chemical compound that inhibits the apoptosis pathway by interacting with protocatechuic acid and inhibiting the expression of apoptotic proteins in vitro. This compound has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of squamous carcinoma cells and induce autophagy. Onjisaponin D also inhibits the production of hepatic stellate cells, which are important in liver fibrosis, and prevents hepatic cell death. Onjisaponin D may be effective in treating metabolic disorders such as diabetes type II because it increases mitochondrial function and improves metabolism.
