Descripción

Octakis(dimethylsilyloxy)octasilsesquioxane is a silicone-derived telechelic organosilicon compound. It is used as a catalyst in the polymerization of polydimethylsiloxane and tetramethylammonium hydrosilylation reactions. This compound has been shown to be unreactive in the environment and long-term when compared with other siloxanes, which makes it useful for coatings, elastomers, and other applications that require protection from UV light. Octakis(dimethylsilyloxy)octasilsesquioxane can be prepared by thermolysis or hydrolysis of octakis(dimethylsilyloxy)tetrasilsesquioxane.
