Octafluoro-1,6-Hexanedinitrile is a cross-linker that can be used to increase the processability of polyesters. It has been shown to react with diethyl ether and chloride to form an organic acid. The organic substituent on the molecule is what causes it to react with other molecules. This cross-linker can also be used as a monomer in the synthesis of polyesters and vinyl ethers. The reaction temperatures for this cross-linker are between -40°C and 120°C. Octafluoro-1,6-Hexanedinitrile is soluble in both organic solvents and water, making it easy to use in various reactions.
