1,1,2,2,3,4,4,5-Octafluorocyclopentane is a radical that can undergo disproportionation reactions. It is a fluorinated hydrocarbon that has the potential to react with other radicals and form cyclic compounds. 1,1,2,2,3,4,4,5-Octafluorocyclopentane can be photolyzed to yield cyclopentenes and hydrogen atoms. It has been shown to act as a substrate molecule for cyclohexene photochemistry at low temperatures. The radical can also be reversibly converted back into the original compound by heating or by adding an electron donor such as methanol or ethanol.
