Phenylsulfonyl cyanide is a reactive chemical that contains a hydroxy group, chloride, hydroxyl group, and pyrimidine compound. It has been used as a control agent for the horticultural industry. It is also used to make other compounds. When it reacts with chlorine or nitrogen, it forms a molecule containing an alkylthio group. In addition, phenylsulfonyl cyanide can react with hydrogen to form hydrocyanic acid (HCN). This chemical may be toxic because of its ability to inhibit metabolic reactions.
