N-Propyl isothiocyanate may act by binding to proteins or DNA, inhibiting enzyme activities and causing hydroxylation of the cell membrane, which results in decreased proliferation. The matrix effect may also contribute to its cytotoxicity by preventing nutrients from entering cells.
