This inhibition study was done using inorganic compounds such as sodium chloride, potassium phosphate, and magnesium sulfate. 3-Pentyn-1-OL also inhibits the activity of porcine pancreatic lipase by an irreversible mechanism. 3-Pentyn-1-OL is an organometallic compound that has been shown to react with thiamine pyrophosphate and fatty acids, which are essential cofactors for lipases.
