• Descripción: (+)-3-Phenyllactic acid is an antimicrobial agent that belongs to the group of phenylacetic acids. It has been shown to be active against Gram-positive bacteria, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, and Bacillus cereus. (+)-3-Phenyllactic acid has been found to possess inhibitory properties against enzymes involved in the biosynthesis of p-hydroxybenzoic acid, a precursor of benzoic acid. (+)-3-Phenyllactic acid is also known as a chiral compound that can exist as two enantiomers: (i) (+)-3-phenyllactic acid (ii) (-)-3-phenyllactic acid. The biological activity of these enantiomers are not yet clear.
