Descripción

Piperidine-3-carbohydrazide is a nipecotic drug that has been shown to have a low safety profile in the rat. It is an active form of piperidine-3-carboxylic acid, which may be due to its serotonergic effects. Piperidine-3-carbohydrazide has been shown to inhibit the reuptake of GABA, an inhibitory neurotransmitter, in rats and mice. This inhibition leads to increased concentrations of GABA in the synaptic cleft and increased neuronal activity. Piperidine-3-carbohydrazide has also been shown to have anti-epileptic properties as well as being a potential treatment for Parkinson's disease.
