4-Phenylcyclohexanone oxime is a reagent that is used in organic synthesis. It is a hydroxamic acid derivative that inhibits the catalytic activity of metalloproteinases, such as matrix metalloproteinase and cathepsin B. 4-Phenylcyclohexanone oxime has been shown to inhibit the production of reactive oxygen species, which are toxic to cells. It can also be used as a radiation sensitizer for radiotherapy. The compound also has pharmacological properties and can be used to synthesize semicarbazones.
