3-Piperidin-1-ylbutanoic acid is a toxic, efficient, and stable catalyst that is used in organic chemistry to promote the reaction of crotonic amines with crotonic acid. The reaction time is short and the solvents are easily removed. 3-Piperidin-1-ylbutanoic acid has been shown to be an efficient catalyst for various reactions, including workup and synthesis of β-amino acids from crotonic acids. It can also be used as a sustainable replacement for other catalysts that are less efficient or more toxic.
