4-(Piperidin-1-yl)pyridine is a pyridine derivative that can be synthesized from the reaction of primary amines with hydroxyl groups, which are found in fatty alcohols. It has been shown to have anticancer potential and potent inhibition of diisocyanates. 4-(Piperidin-1-yl)pyridine can also be used in the synthesis of imidazole derivatives and anticoagulants. The biosynthesis of 4-(Piperidin-1-yl)pyridine begins with the conversion of amino acids into amino acid precursors, such as glycine, serine, and threonine. These precursors are then converted into piperidine through a series of reactions called transamination or deamination.
