• Descripción: Pyridine-2-sulfonicacid is a sulfonate salt with an inhibitory effect on cancer cells. It is a compound that has two sulfur atoms bound to the heterocycle pyridine. Pyridine-2-sulfonic acid inhibits the activity of enzymes that catalyze reactions in the body, such as those involved in DNA synthesis and repair. The chloride ions are also capable of reacting with hydrogen peroxide to form hydrochloric acid, which can lead to cell death when it enters the cell through the membrane. Selenium compounds have been shown to increase its cytotoxicity. This drug has been shown to inhibit both cancerous and noncancerous cells by inducing apoptosis. Pyridine-2-sulfonic acid has been found to be effective against a range of cancers including colon, prostate, breast, lung, and pancreas cancers.
