- Piperidine-1-Carbothioamide
1-Piperidinethiocarboxamide is a histamine receptor antagonist that has been synthesised to target the H1 and H2 receptors. This molecule has an inhibitory effect on human serum histamine levels in vitro, by blocking the binding of histamine to its receptors. The 13C-NMR spectroscopy revealed that this compound had a cyclohexane ring with a hydrogen bond to the 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid moiety. It was also shown that 1-piperidinethiocarboxamide inhibited the reuptake of serotonin in fibroblast cells. These results suggest that 1-piperidinethiocarboxamide may be an efficient method for treating conditions such as allergic rhinitis and peptic ulcer disease.
