5-(Piperazin-1-yl)benzofuran-2-carboxamide is an organic solvent that has been used as a precursor in the synthesis of vilazodone. This compound is also involved in reductive amination reactions and transition metal catalyzed carbonyl reductions. 5-(Piperazin-1-yl)benzofuran-2-carboxamide is used industrially for reductive amination and reductive coupling reactions. It is a powerful reducing agent with a high hydrogen atom transfer rate. The compound exhibits excellent ability to form salt, which makes it very useful for industrial applications.
