It binds to the hydroxyl group in a human serum and intramolecular hydrogen in an aromatic ring. 2-Pivaloylindane-1,3-dione also has a chemical stability and high kinetic data. It is used as an additive to inhibit the growth of bacteria that cause infectious diseases such as tuberculosis, leprosy, and malaria.
