Pentaerythritol distearate is a mixture of fatty acid esters of pentaerythritol. It is used as a thickener for various products, including paints and coatings, and in cosmetics. In food applications, pentaerythritol distearate is used as a stabilizer or emulsifier. It can also be used to create a viscosity that is similar to that of blood plasma. Pentaerythritol distearate also has diagnostic properties. When mixed with radioactive isotopes, it can be used to produce images of the body's internal organs without exposing the patient to radiation. Pentaerythritol distearate is also used in pharmaceutical preparations and detergent compositions.
