Phenyl sulphate is a chemical compound that contains a phenolic group and a sulfate group. It reacts with hydrogen peroxide to produce phenol and water. Phenyl sulfate is an enzyme activator that stimulates the activity of phenolase, tyrosinase, and aminopeptidase. This chemical also has genotoxic effects on human lymphocytes in vitro, as well as metabolic disorders in vivo. Phenyl sulphate may be used to treat infectious diseases by stimulating the immune system or by enhancing antibiotic activity by increasing the permeability of bacterial cell membranes. This chemical can be found in biological samples such as human serum, plasma, whole blood, white blood cells, erythrocytes, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), or urine.
