• Descripción: Potassium thiosulfate is a salt that can be used to prepare a reaction solution for the detection of hydroxyl groups, which are found in polymers and other organic compounds. The potassium thiosulfate decomposes to release sulfur dioxide with the help of calcium pantothenate, a reducing agent. The resulting colloidal gold is then mixed with the polymer composition, and the particle size is observed using a polarizer. A chemiluminescent reaction is triggered by potassium dichromate and emits light when it oxidizes. This light emission can be detected using a photomultiplier tube and an appropriate filter.
