Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)-poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) is a polymeric material that is synthesized from 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene and styrene sulfonic acid. It is used in the synthesis of conductive coatings because of its high electrical conductivity. PEDOT:PSS has been shown to be an effective actuator material that can be used for enhancing gas sensors as well as electrochemical methods. PEDOT:PSS also emits light when excited by laser ablation or light emission. The transport properties of this material are dependent on the morphology and optical properties, which can be modified by changing the photoelectron generation process.
