(2R)-3-(4-phenylpiperazin-1-yl)propane-1,2-diol is a chemical compound that has been shown to suppress chronic cough in an animal model. It acts by inhibiting the release of acetylcholine from nerve endings, which reduces the reflex contraction of smooth muscle in the airway. (2R)-3-(4-Phenylpiperazin-1-yl)propane-1,2-diol also has antiinflammatory activity and can be used for the treatment of infectious diseases caused by natural compounds such as chromatographic analysis and chemiluminescence method. The rate constant for this compound is 0.0067 min(-1).
