• Descripción: (2E)-2,4-Pentadienoic acid is a molecule that has been found to be an intermediate in the biochemical pathway for the biosynthesis of abscisic acid. It is also a plant hormone that regulates seed germination and vernalization. The reaction of (2E)-2,4-pentadienoic acid with hydrochloric acid produces a mixture of malonic and furyl chlorides. This compound can be prepared by reacting 2,4-pentadienoic acid ethyl esters with hydrogen chloride in the presence of sodium ethoxide. The optical properties of this molecule have been studied using preparative electrochemical impedance spectroscopy.
