Descripción:Phenoprolamine hydrochloride is a synthetic polymerase chain reaction (PCR) enhancer that enhances the efficiency of DNA replication. It can be used as an alternative to dithiothreitol and is not subject to the same limitations, such as toxicity and interference with other enzymes. Phenoprolamine hydrochloride has been shown to increase cardiac contractility in rats, although it may cause a decrease in heart rate. This agent also has been shown to improve prognosis for colorectal adenocarcinoma patients, as well as inhibit the growth of several carcinoma cell lines. This drug binds to enzymes involved in the synthesis of ester linkages, which are necessary for nucleic acid synthesis.
