Descripción:2-Piperazinyl-4-amino-6,7-dimethoxyquinazoline (2PAQ) is a hypotensive agent that has been shown to be active against influenza virus in animal models. 2PAQ inhibits the replication of influenza virus by binding to viral RNA and preventing it from forming a single-stranded molecule. It also prevents the protein synthesis necessary for viral replication by binding to the RNP complex and inhibiting the transcription of viral RNA into DNA. 2PAQ is active against a broad range of viruses, including herpes simplex virus types 1 and 2, varicella zoster virus, cytomegalovirus, and rhinovirus. 2PAQ has been shown to inhibit cellular proliferation in vitro as well as blood pressure in vivo through its ability to inhibit nitric oxide synthase activity.
