Descripción:5b-Pregnan-3a-ol-20-one is a natural product that belongs to the group of steroids. It has been shown to inhibit the polymerase chain reaction in animals. The drug also inhibits pain and has been shown to be effective in models of epilepsy. 5b-Pregnan-3a-ol-20-one binds to DNA, preventing transcription and replication. It also stabilizes the surface of cells, which may be important for its uptake by cells. This compound interacts with Tlr4, which may activate immune cells and lead to seizures. 5b-Pregnan-3a-ol-20-one is oxidized by cytochrome P450 enzymes, leading to the production of hydrogen peroxide and formation of a carbonyl group on the molecule.
