4-(2-Pyridinyl)benzoic acid is a ligand that can be used in solar cells to enhance the absorption of light. It has been shown that this compound absorbs light in the visible region and transfers it to the electron transfer chains, which are responsible for converting light energy into electrical energy. The chromophores of 4-(2-pyridinyl)benzoic acid have been shown to be directionally sensitive as well as photophysical. This compound has potential use in solar cells or other devices such as ancillary devices in solar panels.
