• Descripción: (S)-Pyroglutaminol is a chiral auxiliary that can be used to synthesize enantiopure amino acid derivatives. It is used in the synthesis of various drugs, such as antivirals and antifungals. The hydroxy group on one side of the molecule reacts with the enolate of an alpha-amino acid or a beta-keto acid to form an ester. The hydroxyl group on the other side of the molecule reacts with ethylene diamine to form an amide. Pyroglutaminol has been shown to reduce carbonyl groups in organic compounds, which may be due to its ability to act as an enantioselective catalyst for asymmetric synthesis.
