Descripción:Propanil is a carbamate insecticide that is used for the treatment of wastewater and soil. It is also used to control the spread of infectious diseases such as malaria and leishmaniasis, which are caused by microbial metabolism. Propanil binds to enzyme-bound cholinesterase, thereby inhibiting the activity of this enzyme. Propanil has been shown to be toxic to rat liver cells in vitro, but not to other tissues in vivo. There are no reports on the toxicological effects of propanil on humans.
