2-Pyrazine ethanethiol is a maleate that is used as an additive with metal ion catalysts to produce polymers. This chemical has been shown to reversibly inhibit the growth of cancer cells and induce apoptosis in a number of cell lines, including breast, prostate, and lymphoma. 2-Pyrazine ethanethiol also inhibits the proliferation of cancer cells by modulating genes involved in cell cycle progression. The analogs of this compound are being synthesized through coordination chemistry.
