(-)-Praeruptorin A is a coumarin derivative that inhibits protein synthesis and has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and antihypertensive activities. (-)-Praeruptorin A is a competitive inhibitor of human cyp3a4 (CYP3A4) with an IC50 value of 0.1 µg/mL in vitro. The IC50 of this compound for rat liver microsomes was determined to be 10.4 µg/mL, which indicates that (-)-praeruptorin A is also a substrate for CYP3A4. This coumarin derivative also inhibits the activity of creatine kinase in vitro and increases the intracellular calcium concentration in cells.
