• Descripción: Racemic 1-phenyl-2-oxo-3-oxabicyclo[3.1.0]hexane is a reactant that can be used in the synthesis of methanesulfonic acid and methanesulfonyl chloride. It is also a byproduct of the synthesis of racemic 2,5-dichloromethylpyridine from toluene and triethyl orthoformate. Methanesulfonic acid is an organic compound, while methanesulfonyl chloride is an inorganic compound, which are both useful reagents in organic synthesis. Racemic 1-phenyl-2-oxo-3-oxabicyclo[3.1.0]hexane can be obtained by reacting toluene with triethyl orthoformate followed by addition of triethylamine and then heating the mixture at 150°C for 20 hours.
