D-Phenylalanine benzyl ester 4-toluenesulfonate salt is a bioconjugate that binds to amyloid plaques and inhibits the growth of protein aggregates. D-Phenylalanine benzyl ester 4-toluenesulfonate salt is made of a specific amino acid, phenylalanine, and a small molecule, toluene sulfonyl. This bioconjugate has been shown to be effective against amyloid formation in mice with Alzheimer’s disease. The rate of elimination of this drug from the body can be increased by taking it orally or giving it as an injection. The presence of this drug in the body can be detected by fluorimetric analysis.
