DL-Phe(2-Cl)-OH is a metabolite of the natural phenolic compound p-coumaric acid and is produced by oxidative cleavage. It binds to the same receptors as its parent compound and has been shown to inhibit inflammation in vitro. DL-Phe(2-Cl)-OH has been studied as an inhibitor of chronic inflammatory diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis. This metabolite may be used to monitor changes in the levels of inflammatory cytokines and other markers related to inflammation during clinical trials and experimental interventions.
