2-Piperidin-4-yl-benzooxazole is a histamine receptor agonist that has been shown to bind to both the 5-HT1A and 5-HT2A receptors. This drug has been shown to have an antidepressant effect in animal models, which may be due to its ability to inhibit serotonin reuptake into the presynaptic neuron. 2Piperidin-4-yl-benzooxazole is also a potent dopamine receptor antagonist. It has been shown to have high affinity for 5HT2C receptors, but low affinity for H1 receptors. These activities are likely responsible for its sedative and antihistaminergic effects.
