1H-Pyrazol-3-yl boronic acid is a reagent used in the synthesis of HIV protease inhibitors. It is also an inhibitor of serine proteases, such as HIV protease and papain. 1H-Pyrazol-3-yl boronic acid can be modified with a variety of functional groups to produce a lead compound for drug development. The compound has two isomers: 1H and 3H. The 3H isomer is not commercially available, but it can be produced by diazotization of 1H. The cyclic structure of 1H-pyrazol-3-yl boronic acid inhibits the protease activity by binding to the active site or by steric hindrance, which prevents substrate binding.
