Phosphorus pentoxide, also known as phosphoric acid dianhydride, is an inorganic compound that can exist as a white crystalline solid, powder, or colorless gas. It is used in the synthesis of methyl ketones and malonic acid. It has been shown to be effective against influenza virus in tissue culture. Phosphorus pentoxide has also been used to synthesize other compounds for use in cancer therapy such as methoxy groups and protonated molecules. This chemical is commercially available and stable with respect to air and water.
