Descripción:N-(Phenylthio)phthalimide is a chiral, sulfur-containing compound that is used in the production of pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. It can be synthesized by reacting phenylthiohydrazine with phthalimide or chloroform to form an intermediate which is then hydrogenated to provide the desired product. The stereochemistry of N-(phenylthio)phthalimide is determined by the substituent on the nitrogen atom. This process can be achieved using acid catalysis and a dihedral angle of 120°.
Phosphatase activity and sulfenylated groups have been observed in the process of hydrolysis for this compound.
