1,3-Phenylene Diisocyanate (1,3-PDI) is a colorless liquid that is soluble in organic solvents. It has a constant boiling point and can be used as an organic solvent. 1,3-PDI reacts with ethylene diamine to form the corresponding polycarboxylic acid. The molecular weight of 1,3-PDI is 204.07 g/mol. The addition of a methyl group to the aromatic ring leads to formation of an isothiocyanate or diisocyanate. 1,3-PDI is also known as hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI).
