2',4',6',3,4-Pentahydroxychalcone is a sesquiterpene lactone, which is a natural product that has been shown to have anti-cancer activity. It can inhibit the enzyme aromatase, which is responsible for converting androgens into estrogens. 2',4',6',3,4-Pentahydroxychalcone also inhibits the activity of phenolic acid hydroxylases. This inhibition leads to an increase in the level of phenolic acids in cells. The increased levels of phenolic acids may lead to an increase in population growth and UV absorption. 2',4',6',3,4-Pentahydroxychalcone has also been shown to inhibit diphenolase activity in k562 cells.
