• Descripción: 4-Propylresorcinol is a potent tyrosinase inhibitor that has been shown to inhibit the activity of this enzyme in a synergistic interaction with metal chelators. The binding of 4-propylresorcinol to the active site of the enzyme inhibits the hydroxylation of L-tyrosine, preventing melanin production. This drug also inhibits the production of melanin by other pathways, such as by modulating cellular transcription. The inhibition of tyrosinase activity by 4-propylresorcinol has been shown to be specific and reversible.
