• Descripción: Perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS) is a water-soluble, non-persistent fluorochemicals that binds to DNA and inhibits the rate of RNA synthesis. It has been shown to have an effect on human immunoglobulin production in vitro and may be used as an analytical method for human blood. PFOS also inhibits polymerase chain reactions, which are vital in the process of DNA replication, by binding to the enzyme's active site. The optimum concentration for this compound is 0.1 microgram per milliliter, with a rate constant of 2.6 × 10−4 M−1s−1 at 25 degrees Celsius. PFOS has been shown to be toxic to humans and wildlife at high concentrations.
