It is a white crystal or crystalline powder that is soluble in organic solvents such as ether, alcohols, and benzene. Propargylaldehyde diethyl acetal has been shown to be potent inhibitors of HSV-1, HSV-2, and HCMV. Furthermore, it has been reported that propargylaldehyde diethyl acetal inhibits the growth of cancer cells in vitro.
