PEG 6000 is a polymer that is used to reduce the toxicity of drugs and increase their solubility. This product is often used in tissue culture, because it can provide a suitable medium for cell growth without interfering with the cells' normal metabolism. PEG 6000 has been shown to inhibit oxidative DNA damage in liver cells by binding to reactive oxygen species. It also reduces chronic arthritis symptoms by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis and increasing the production of anti-inflammatory growth factors.
